Run the Scheduling Optimizer
Once the Scheduling Optimizer has been installed as a SASIxp atom, you can
run it by simply selecting the atom within SASIxp and double clicking.
A simulation using the Scheduling Optimizer is run by performing the following
series of steps. Steps 2 and 3 are additions to the standard Schedule Pro simulation
process. In Mass Scheduling, the entire series of steps replaces the “Schedule
all students” function of the Scheduling atom.
 |
Prepare Student Loading Input Data. Use the Run
Scheduler Simulation atom (in the Schedule Pro folder) to extract simulation
data from the SASIxp database. If you are using Schedule Pro’s master schedule
builder component, this step generates the master schedule to be used in
student loading; otherwise, the master schedule defined in the asms
file is extracted. |
 |
Run the Scheduling Optimizer. The Scheduling Optimizer
will start and display messages indicating its progress. It will display
a message when it is done; click OK in the message box and review the run
log for a quick check of the number of students it was able to fully schedule.
The program writes (or rewrites) a file of class assignments and generates
a set of report files. |
 |
View Scheduling Optimizer Reports. Open the Simulation
Loading Summary report (file simsumry.htm in the target Schedule
Pro folder) in your browser. Starting from this page, you can link to the
rest of the Scheduling Optimizer reports.
Note: Once the Scheduling Optimizer has been run, you can use the
“Install Atom…” function within the SASIxp File menu to install the file
simsumry.htm as an external atom on the SASIxp desktop. This allows
you to start the Scheduling Optimizer simulation reports by double clicking
an icon on the SASIxp desktop. |
 |
Load scheduling results back into the SASIxp database.
Use the “Results Update” atom (in the Schedule Pro folder). You may now
examine the detailed results using standard SASIxp atoms and reports. |
